About Courtney

My story is not unlike the story of many women.  I was always the chubby kid (hardy Midwestern stock), the overweight teenager fueled by angst and an obsession with depressing indie music, the “freshman 30” college student and eventually the woman teetering on the line of obesity.  There is not a diet or exercise that I have not tried (did anyone ever really believe that living off bacon and mayonnaise was a good idea?).  I have lost and gained the same 50 pounds over and over again.  Nothing worked.

After the birth of my daughter, I decided once and for all to rid my body of the extra weight I’d struggled with throughout my life. This time was going to be different.  No more excuses, yoyo diets, pills or exercises in extreme starvation.  I was a mother and aspired to be the absolute best person that I could be.   I wanted to set a positive example for my daughter and be able to chase her crazy ass around the park without getting winded….not to mention feel sexy.I dropped 40 pounds by hiring trainers and dieting, but the process was miserable.  My diet was obsessively rigid and the trainers that I hired didn’t understand what it was like to struggle with weight.  Even programs that catered specifically to new moms didn’t work because of my anti-stroller/anti-gym day care baby.  There is nothing worse than pushing a screaming kid in an overpriced jogging stroller or finally getting yourself to the gym only to be pulled out of your spin class after 5 minutes because your baby is having a full blown “Linda Blair” meltdown.

Funny thing, my other new-mom friends were complaining about the same thing.  I decided I would become the trainer that my girlfriends and I were seeking.  Thus TrainHer….

TrainHer is for women that are tired of hiring “one size fits all” trainers who don’t understand what it is like to battle weight…women who are busy and need effective and convenient (and dare I say fun) ways to get in shape….women who are looking for creative solutions to exercise with a child…women who are sick of short term solutions and are ready to build a healthy lifestyle.
